Happy 4th to all.
Fishing has been good this weekend.
White River: Good dry fly action! Size 16 and 18 Elk Wing Caddis (tan).
Sugar River: Golden Stonefly nymphs are still paying off. Or you can try a Klinkhammer; fish it just under the surface and retrieve it to imitate an emerging nymph.
North Country: Seth and I fished the Saco and Ellis rivers Saturday. 58-60 degree water temps. I caught all 3 species (Browns and Brookies on the Saco, and Rainbows and Brookies on the Ellis). Klinkhammers, Stimulators and Blue Winged Olives all caught fish. As did a golden stonefly nymph and sparsely tied streamers.
This week: I’ve got a trip Weds. and Tate is taking out a family on Thurs. We’ll report back then.
Tight lines,
Ron

7/6 Update: I took out Ron and Cathy P. for some small stream fishing. Both caught their first trout in Vermont. Water temp. was 58 degrees. Cathy used a tan, Elk Wing caddis dry (size 14) and Ron caught his fish on an orange Stimulator (size 14). Highlights were two Rainbows above 10 inches landed by Ron and Cathy’s nice 9 inch Brookie, Fun fish on a 7′ 3 wt. fiberglass rod!
