Things are starting to look up. I went out this morning before work and caught 3 trout in a few hours on the Mascoma River. One 11 or 12 inch Brown below the dam on Al’s smelt pattern. Water was high (4 gates were open on the dam) but the temp was 54 degrees. I headed upstream to the inlet and landed a fat, 13 inch Brown on an olive Muddler minnow. A few casts later I caught a 10 inch Brook trout on the same fly. Water temp was 50 degrees. Still higher than ideal, but fishable. More rain in the forecast, but hopefully we don’t get too much more. – RR

More rain today and tomorrow, but supposed to be nice Friday thru Sunday. The rivers are high and muddy today, with flood warnings in some areas. They should clear up and be in good enough shape to fish this weekend. Some extra weight might be needed to get down as the water will be a bit higher than normal. Good luck everybody. And don’t forget to submit your fish pics!
