Spey School with Jim Rusher
Ever thought about learning how to cast a spey rod? Or maybe you have but you need help to perfect the art. Well, here is your chance!
Jim Rusher has over 25 years of experience teaching the mechanics and methods of spey casting. He currently owns a lodge on the Madapedia River on the Gaspe’ Peninsula in Quebec, where he guides and teaches thru the summer months. Jim is also the former owner of Whitaker’s on the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY.
Hanover Outdoors, has contracted with Jim to offer a course designed to give you all the tools and skills you need to get started in this exciting method of fly-fishing. Whether you want to catch steelhead in NY, or stripers on the Cape, or Atlantic salmon on the Gaspe’, Hanover Outdoors’ spey school can get you started down the road to proficiency with two-handed rods.
Date: Saturday April 30th. & Sunday May 1st.
Time: 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM each day
Enrollment: 8 students max (so sign up soon)!
Class includes: Instruction in rod, reel, and line selection. Methods of the snap t, snake roll, and single and double spey casts. The use of equipment, including rods and reels, is included both days. Hanover Outdoors will also provide lunch both days (please notify us of any food allergies when you sign up).
Discounts: Each participant will receive a Hanover Outdoors discount card worth 15% off a one-time purchase of gear at Hanover Outdoors.
Cost: $225 per participant. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration.
Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to attend the school after paying your deposit, the $50 can be transferred to one of our Fly Fishing Schools or Fly Tying classes at a later date.

Good first day. A little windy, and the water was cold (45 degrees) but everybody got the basics down. Jim will make sure experts today.
