White River in VT still high and muddy. Additional rains haven’t helped. Smaller streams and brooks are high but clear and fishable. Water temps are 48-50 degrees.
If you are going fishing this weekend, try a pond! Good reports of late, both in VT and NH. Most of the trout are being caught in the late afternoon or evenings.
For flies, try a size 16 – 22 BWO (dry or emerger). If you don’t like the small stuff, Seth D. caught Rainbows (including a nice 14-15 incher) on Mickey Finn and Joe’s Smelt streamers.
Tim S. even caught a couple of Brookies the other night on nymphs.

The White is fishable again from the headwaters down to the Connecticut. Still fairly high so be careful if wading. Best bet may be to float it from your kayak, casting a woolly bugger into the deep holes and runs.
