Current water temps:
Mill Brook (VT, just above West Hartford) = 65 degrees
White River (at West Hartford bridge) = 72 degrees
Mascoma River (West Lebanon, NH) = 75 degrees
Connecticut River (West Leb.) = 75 degrees
Why is this important?
All fish species have a preferred water temperature. This is when the fish are most active and in feeding mode. So if you are going fishing, you want to know the water temps. Below are some examples for species found locally:
Brook Trout = 45 to 61 degrees
Atlantic Salmon = 50 to 62 degrees
Rainbow Trout = 50 to 70 degrees
Northern Pike = 55 to 65 degrees
Walleye = 59 to 68 degrees
Smallmouth Bass = 65 to 73 degrees
Perch = 66 to 77 degrees
Carp = 79 to 84 degrees
Largemouth Bass = 80 to 82 degrees

Tried the conn Nothing coming up 6:00-8:30pm did get a small mouth bass 2-3 lbs
Thanks Peter. I think it is fair to say that the trout fishing has been sluggish in most places with the heat. Smallmouth are definitely a better option right now!
