“Shoo fly, don’t bother me”

by Ron on June 24, 2010

This popular Civil War song seems very appropriate this time of year.  Mosquitoes and black flies are everywhere right now.  So if you are going fishing, hiking, walking with the dogs, or just hanging out on the porch with a cold beverage you might want to take some precautions against these biting insects.

If you need insect repellent we have a lot to choose from here in the store.  We have Cutter Advanced with Picaridin; we have various DEET and Picaridin sprays and lotions from SAWYER;  as well as Ultrathon from 3M.

You can also treat your clothing with Permethrin sprays (effective thru 6 washings).  And we have Insect Shield clothing (hats, bandanas, shirts, pants & socks).  I wear it while fishing and my wife wears it head to toe while gardening!  It does indeed work.

The insect shield clothing does seem to work! I throw the bandana around my neck while fishing and it keeps the flies from buzzing around my head. No bug spray needed!
